Hellespont (a 46 meter long Paddle Steamer) was based in Ireland until 1922. Hellespont came to Malta in 1922 and was damaged by an Italian aircraft in 1940. The paddle steamer was sunk by German / Italian aircraft in 1942. It was later lifted and moved just off Grand Harbour, at a depth of 41 meters. It was first discovered in 1999.
