Schnellboot S-31 is an Italian warship that was first launched in 1939. While in Malta, preparing to lay down mines in order to intercept a British ship from entering Valletta, one of the mines exploded and Schnellboot was hit. She sunk just outside of Grand Harbour to a depth of 70 meters.
